Make no mistake about it, WirelessGet does not have any spyware, malware, viruses nor it is in any way built to intrude on your privacy. It does not send any information nor does it collect any, it is simply a useful tool and we get compensated through advertising mainly from people visiting the site, recommending it, bookmarking it and of course buying from advertisers who have banners or links on our site (or on the sofwtare when available). Some software developers use some unethical tactics are there for a quick buck, they fill programs with all sorts of nasty and intruding features. Though some are innocent and do what we do, rely on banners to support the development of the software, they over do it by filling the program with zillion banners, pop-ups, pop-unders etc. Worst still, some distributors form partnerships with nasty sites who pay them a good fee to load their free software with junk. This is what we call NAD ADWARE. Adware is basically distributing software for free but load it with banners, nothing wrong with this most may say, after all this is how most will recoup their cost from advertisers (we do have a banner or two on the software ourselves, no harm in that)! BUT when some banners are crafted in such a way as to become intrusive, or are there in a form of iFrames, javascript collecting all sorts of private information about you or even injecting programs and unwanted activeX functions WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION and knowledge, that becomes a problem. iFrames or javascript or any other code is not the problem, it's what they can do with it without your consent! Our best advice is Install an anti spyware or an anti-virus that does both, there are many that are free and open source and as good as commercial solutions! Always download the latest version from the wirelessGet site, it always has the latest version. Un-install the old version first, though you can install on top of the old version, that may not produce the best operating resullts. Installation Installing WirelessGet 1.3 and above downloaded from http://www.wirelessget.com or other download sites: Execute the executable file and follow the wizard. Depending on the version you download, choose where to install the program, if you already have a previous version, you can install on top that, it'll simply update the files and adds the license to use permanently instead of the 30 day trial, you'll not be asked to purchase any more or register! However, we recommend un-installing the old version as that may not work 100% to the desired results Find where you installed it, open the WirelessGet folder and create a short cut for the file WirelessGet.exe on your desktop (send to desktop as a short cut) if the installer did not ask you to create it, saves you time going to that folder every time you needed to start the program! Uninstalling WirelessGet Browse your WirelessGet folder where you installed the program, run unins000.exe or uninst.exe (depending on your version). Delete the folder if you like and the short cut you made if they are still there! Depending on the version you downloaded, with some versions: You can find "Uninstall WirelessGet" shortcut in Start Menu All Programs->WirelessGet, click it. Open Windows Control Panel, run "Add or remove programs", find WirelessGet in the "Currently installed programs" list, click "Remove" button. |
